Dil Se - By Sudheendra about Ravi

Lot of people may not even know him. He is very very low-profile. But this DCL player is no new comer and has played the league since 1999. Some teams he has played in the past: Greens, Troy Cricket club and MCC ( Motor city cricketers). This year I coaxed him to leave weakened Greens(after Minal's exit) team and join Stars in the hope we will play in Pool X and do better in playoffs.

He is very uncharacteristically modest for a bowler but with super-effective results. You never see him in any of usual theatrics that bowlers get into: staring at batter, sledging at the batter after good delivery or gesturing at batter after taking his wicket. Never would you see him making any negative comments to batter. That's just not his style of aggression. But his results are remarkable. His RPO this season so far is 2.4 . He is the league's third in that category. He has consistently been among the most economical bowlers in DCL. You hardly ever see an over from him with > 3 runs. He pitches the ball at the right spot; Never bowls extras; Takes a short run up but still has excellent pace; And his over almost always seems to go by in a breeze. It seems like the captain is just done giving the ball to him and within a minute the captain already has the ball thinking of his next bowler.

With the DCL tball and pitches favoring bowling to batting, can u imagine a team with 5 Ravi's:-) That team will almost inevitably claim the championship. Yes I am talking about Ravi Kumar, the Stars bowler and he deserves a HUGE 'Dil Se' recognition :-)
